Liebe und andere Katastrophen
Sunday, October 17 2021, 4pm
Sommerbau des Mousonturms, Kaiserlei
The Caecilenchoir was offered the opportunity to perform at the "Sommerbau", a unique open air location which will only exist for a few months right at the border between Offenbach and Frankfurt.
The 20th century is rich in wonderful lyrics and songs that reflect the zeitgeist of the respective years. For "Liebe und andere Katastrophen," conductor Christian Kabitz has rearranged songs of the 1920s in Berlin such as “Du musst die Männer schlecht behandeln"" or "In der Bar zum Krokodil" for four-part choir, cleverly placing female and male voices. With witty and challenging texts and acting interludes, Michael Quast enriches the evening with dry humor and fine irony. Songs and texts by composer Georg Kreisler provoke with an anarchistic view of the war and post-war period and challenge us, even half a century after they were written, to evaluate this time anew and differently. Both Michaela Schlotter and Erika Le Roux are master pianists and work regularly with the choir and with Michael Quast. The evening is a feast and experience for audiences with fine ears and humor
