Prof. Christian Rohrbach is new artistic director!

After conducting trials with different candidates Christian Rohrbach was selected unanimously as the new artistic director by an extraordinary general meeting of our Cäcilien-Verein. He will take his new position starting January 1st 2025. We would like to congratulate on being elected and look forward to focused rehearsals an wonderful concerts with him.

Christian Rohrbach is conductor, singer, song pianist and teaches singing at the Mainz School of Music. He is leading the oratory class and is artistic teacher for the master class Baroque Vocal.

we would also like to thank the other applicants for their interest for our choir, for intense talks and diverse conducting trials.

History of the choir and its members

Stones against forgetting

The Nazi regime has left very dark marks between 1933 and 1945 in the Frankfurt Cäcilienchor, too. Many families of jewish descent from the choir were harassed, stripped of their rights, looted, persecuted, killed, driven into exile or driven to death. The Cäcilienchor has made it its responsibility to reconstruct the life paths of these members and bring them back into our midst. Through intensive research and by initiating the placement of Stolpersteine we want to keep the memories of their ordeals awake in the public awareness.

Charity Concert for the Ukraine

The hr Symphony Orchestra supports the people in Ukraine with this charity concert, including Beethoven's „Hymn of Europe“ and a piece by ukrainian composer Anna Korsun. The community of Frankfurt choires, to which the Cäcilienchor belongs, is part of this concert.
