Greetings from our chairman Thomas Hohmann
Dear Friends of the Cäcilienchor,
the first year with our new artistic director has passed, and the choir and board feel more than vindicated in their choice of Christian Rohrbach. The intensive and innovative rehearsals of 2025 resulted in wonderful concerts by the Cäcilienchor, providing us and our audience with new musical experiences.
In 2026, we will again be exploring a repertoire of well-known and lesser-known compositions, which we will present in our annual brochure. We will be performing in several concerts presented by the Museumsgesellschaft and the Friends and Patrons of the Alte Oper in the Great Hall of the Alte Oper: Haydn's The Seasons, Mahler's Symphony No. 2, and Antonín Dvořák's Te Deum.
We, the members of the Cäcilienchor, look forward to the new concert season with you.
Join us!
Warm regards
Thomas Hohmann
Greeting from our artistic director Christian Rohrbach
Dear friends of the Cäcilienchor!
My first year as artistic director of the Cäcilienchor Frankfurt was characterized by mutual curiosity, openness, and a great joy of discovery. In rehearsals and concerts, I experienced the dedication and enthusiasm with which this venerable ensemble brings music to life – and how much this energy is transmitted to the audience.
Trust has grown from initial encounters, a new artistic style is developing from ideas, and the understanding of a shared language is growing stronger every day. For this, I am very grateful to the choir, all those involved, and last but not least, to you, our loyal and attentive audience.
With this momentum, we now look forward with great anticipation to the 2026 concert season. Right at the beginning, a special highlight awaits us: the performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's St. John Passion on the day after the 341st anniversary of the Thomaskantor's birth, together with renowned soloists and the Neue Hofcapelle Frankfurt on period instruments. This great work of sacred music exemplifies the depth, emotional power, and timeless relevance of our repertoire.
Furthermore, this season we will continue to cultivate our established partnerships and breathe new life into existing formats. Familiar works will shine anew, and unheard pieces await discovery. We look forward to many inspiring encounters with you!
Sincerely,
Christian Rohrbach
